Learn How To Find A Durable Shutter In Atlanta

August 08, 2016

One of our locations in Texas was recently contacted by a previous client. The client had their home destroyed by a tornado earlier this year, but the house’s Sunburst Polywood® plantation shutters made it through the ordeal.

The customer’s home had to be completely rebuilt from the incident, but there were just a couple of louvers broken on one shutter panel on one edge of their residence. Every one of the other Polywood shutters in their house made it through in pristine shape! The customers are currently rebuilding their home, and soon, the Sunburst store in Texas will revisit the home to install the very same shutters they purchased in their new house.

Most likely, your shutters won’t be subject to a natural disaster. But there are a few things to make sure of when purchasing shutters in Atlanta that are durable and will add charm to your home for years to come.

*Disclaimer: Sunburst Shutters doesn’t guarantee that their our products will withstand a tornado or other natural disasters, but this is just one instance of the durability and hardiness of Sunburst’s Polywood shutters. Read our lifetime warranty.

Sturdy Material

Hardwood plantation shutters in a Atlanta home office

The number one quality to look for when you need a durable window treatment is exactly what material it’s made from. For wood shutters, look for those built from hardwood that is known for being both solid and lightweight. Both high-grade teak and basswood (the woods our Ovation® shutters are built with) meet this criteria.

When looking into faux wood shutters, look for a product made from a solid compound such as our Polywood® shutters. These shutters are more resilient than composite shutters, which tend to show damage more easily due to their pressed-board core structure. Polywood shutters are also resistant to moisture, fire, and termites.

Superior Construction

The structure of a shutter has a key role in its durability. The slats of Polywood shutters are kept tight by tension control pins. Epoxy-coated stainless steel staples give added resilience. Polywood’s core is solid, and its joints are reinforced and glued for tremendous sturdiness. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters are the only five star wood shutter in the world and are made with two different varieties of joints: mortise-and-tenon and dowel, which adds sturdiness. We are the sole place which makes shutters put together to survive the most extreme conditions.

Sunburst Shutters makes it a priority to take the utmost care in the measuring, construction, and installation processes to make sure you get elegant custom shutters that match your windows perfectly.

Color Which Lasts

Everybody wants shutters that will be just as beautiful several years after you buy them. Some composite shutters are prone to fading or yellowing over the years. Sunburst’s Polywood shutters won’t ever lose their luster, due to a special seal that inhibits ultraviolet rays that causes fading. All of our shutters are easy to keep spotless by effortlessly wiping with a dustrag.

Warranty

When choosing shutters or other window treatments, the product’s warranty is another major detail. When choosing a premier shutter, you need a warranty to protect your investment. Our Polywood shutters come with a lifetime warranty that protect you from any imperfections in materials, workmanship, paint finish, or installation. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters include a warranty against any defects.
